By-Election: APC Knocks ADC Over Poll Manipulation Claim In Akwa Ibom Poll

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party that it deployed military personnel to intimidate voters and party agents during the Kaura Namoda South State Assembly by-election.

Addressing journalists in Gusau, the APC Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris, described the PDP’s claims as unfounded, insisting that security personnel were deployed strictly to maintain order.

“The allegations are baseless and unfounded. Security personnel were there only to ensure peace and prevent electoral malpractice by thugs,” Idris said.

The APC accused the PDP of attempting to tarnish the image of security agencies in an effort to discredit the electoral process. Idris maintained that the PDP’s allegations were nothing but a “desperate attempt to cover up a looming defeat.”

The opposition party further stressed that the large turnout of voters in Kaura Namoda South was a clear demonstration of its strength in Zamfara State.

“The people trooped out in large numbers to vote for our candidate. The performance of our party in the poll is a clear indication of our popularity ahead of the 2027 general elections,” the spokesperson added.

Although the Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the election inconclusive, the APC insists that the outcome so far reflects the people’s rejection of the PDP in the state.
