Besiktas head coach and former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised Wilfred Ndidi, describing him as a true leader following his impressive debut for the Turkish club. Ndidi made his first appearance in Besiktas 2-1 Sper Lig victory over Eypspor, starting in midfield and showcasing his defensive strength and composure. The Super Eagles star earned a standing ovation from the Istanbul crowd when he was substituted in the 70th minute for Demir Ege Tiknaz. Speaking ahead of Besiktas UEFA Europa Conference League clash with Lausanne, Solskjaer expressed delight over the clubs decision to sign the Nigerian midfielder. Wilfred is a very professional player and a good person. Hes capable of filling important gaps in our team. Hes a leader, Solskjaer said. Im delighted we signed him. I know hell contribute greatly in the coming months and years. Ndidi joined Besiktas after an eight-year spell at Leicester City, where he helped the club secure their first-ever FA Cup title with a 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the 2020/2021 season. He was also part of the squad that defeated Manchester City 1-0 in the Community Shield later that year.
