Arsenal’s latest signing, Viktor Gyokeres, is already making a great impact off the pitch.
According to The Athletic, Viktor Gyokeres has shattered the club’s shirt sales record, just days after being unveiled.
Gyokeres was officially announced by the North London club last Saturday, and even though full retail figures are still being finalised, early numbers show his No.14 shirt has outsold those of Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, and Martin Odegaard.
The 27-year-old forward was unveiled to fans at the Singapore National Stadium ahead of Arsenal’s pre-season clash with Newcastle, receiving a roaring ovation.
Though Gyokeres usually wears No.9, currently held by Gabriel Jesus, he opted for the iconic No.14 jersey, the same number once worn by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
Arsenal reportedly paid €63.5 million to secure Gyokeres’ services, and the early signs suggest they’re already reaping commercial rewards.
Meanwhile, over in Italy, Inter Milan are intensifying their pursuit of Ademola Lookman.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reports that the Nerazzurri have submitted a fresh bid of €40 million plus €5 million in add-ons to Atalanta.
But La Dea are holding firm, demanding a minimum of €50 million for the Nigerian winger.
Despite the setback, Lookman has already agreed on personal terms with Inter and is eager to make the switch.
The Serie A champions are pushing to get the deal over the line before the weekend.
At Liverpool, Alisson Becker has become the latest player to exit the Reds’ pre-season tour of Japan.
The Brazilian shot-stopper flew back home for personal reasons and will miss their final fixture in Asia. He had already been absent from Tuesday’s open training session in Tokyo.
Alisson is expected to rejoin the squad once they return to Merseyside, where preparations for the new season will continue at the AXA Training Centre.
Earlier, Joe Gomez withdrew from the tour due to Achilles pain, while Luis Díaz left to finalise his €65.5 million move to Bayern Munich.
