
The United States authorities has declared Venezuela’s President, Nicolás Maduro, wanted for terrorism.
In an announcement shared on 𝕏 seen by Naija News, the US Department of State accused him of leading a violent drug trafficking network known as the Cartel de los Soles.
The Department of State said the cartel, now officially designated as a global terrorist group, is responsible for trafficking large quantities of cocaine into the United States.
The group is said to be run by Maduro along with two other high-ranking Venezuelan officials; Diosdado Cabello Rondón and Vladimir Padrino López.
To help in their capture, the US is offering a reward of up to $25 million for information that leads to the arrest or conviction of Nicolás Maduro.
Authorities have accused him of narco-terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, and conspiracy to use machine guns and destructive devices during drug operations.
Diosdado Cabello Rondón is facing the same charges, and the US is also offering up to $25 million for information that could help arrest him.
Meanwhile, Vladimir Padrino López is wanted for allegedly coordinating cocaine distribution using aircraft registered in the US.
A reward of up to $15 million has been announced for information on his case.
