Bello Turji: Minister Orders Chief Of Defence Staff, Other Military Heads To Relocate To Sokoto

Armed bandits loyal to notorious terror kingpin, Bello Turji, have abducted 16 residents and killed one person in a fresh attack on Garki village, Sokoto State.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening, was confirmed by counter-insurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, in a post on his 𝕏 handle on Wednesday.

Makama said the assailants, led by a top Turji lieutenant identified as Kallamu, invaded the community in large numbers, firing sporadically to cause panic.

According to Makama, a resident said, “They came in large numbers, took away 16 people, killed one man, and rustled several livestock. They also shot three people who are now receiving treatment at a hospital in Sokoto.”

The attack comes despite ongoing claims of peace negotiations between Turji’s camp and some government mediators.

Makama quoted security sources as saying the latest assault underscored the unreliability of the gang’s leadership.

A source who spoke with Makama said, “Bello Turji has repeatedly used so-called peace talks as a cover to regroup, resupply, and expand his influence. He cannot be trusted because every time there’s dialogue, his men continue to attack, abduct, and kill.”

Intelligence reports indicate that Turji’s network remains active across the Isa, Sabon Birni, and Goronyo axes, with many of his fighters engaged in cross-border trafficking between Nigeria and the Niger Republic.
