The Nigerian military has announced significant achievements in July, including the elimination of several high-profile terror commanders, the rescue of 134 kidnapped victims, and the prevention of oil theft worth over 1.3 billion.Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed the update during a briefing in Abuja, emphasizing the militarys commitment to dismantling criminal networks and restoring nationwide peace.According to Kangye, five notorious terrorist leadersYellow Danbokolo, Amir Dunkei, Kachalla Nagomma, Gurmu, and Ali Yar Daribiyar were neutralized during intensified operations in the North East and North West. In total, 578 suspectsincluding terrorists, kidnappers, and other criminal elementswere arrested, while 134 kidnapped individuals were rescued and reunited with their families.A notable surrender also took place as a wanted terrorist commander, Ibn Ali, turned himself in alongside 151 fighters and their families during clearance operations in the North East.Kangye added that a number of high-profile suspects were apprehended in separate sting operations, including gunrunners, cult leaders, and extremist figures. Arrested individuals include Yakubu Jubril, Abubakar Yahaya, Isiya Sani, Haruna Abdullahi, Ali Abba, Mallam Aminu Idris, Mohammed Hamisu (also known as Mamiyo), Shuaibu Bulama, Isah Abdullahi, and Abdullahi Mohammed. Others arrested include suspected cult kingpin Prince Justin Ishimiri and extremist cell leader Liamdoo Douglas Adekpe, alias Bajor.In the Niger Delta, troops under Operation Delta Safe thwarted oil theft and sabotage activities valued at over 1.31 billion. Recovered items included 974,976 litres of stolen crude oil, 269,257 litres of illegally refined diesel (AGO), 1,759 litres of dual-purpose kerosene (DPK), and 3,447 litres of petrol (PMS).Security forces also destroyed 126 illegal cooking ovens, 107 dugout pits, 73 refining sites, 39 boats, 83 storage tanks, 88 drums, and 35 vehicles used for oil theft. A total of 285 suspects were arrested, and large quantities of arms, ammunition, and explosives were recovered.Kangye affirmed that the military remains committed to defending Nigerias sovereignty under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa. He noted that operations are intelligence-driven and guided by professionalism and respect for human rights.The tide is turning against the enemies of the state, and we will sustain the momentum, he said.
