Nigerian Comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has marked two years since a fire destroyed his Lekki home.
Naija News reports that the father of two took to Instagram to post a video showing the journey from the burnt ruins of his former mansion to the completed new structure.
The footage captured the extent of the damage and ended with views of the renovated building, now featuring elegant décor, marble floors, and modern touches mixed with African design.
The fire, which occurred two years ago, forced AY and his family to leave their home and start over.
At the time, many fans and fellow celebrities reached out with support.
In the new video, the 53-year-old entertainer reflected on the events that followed the fire, saying it was not just the house that was affected, but also his peace and comfort.
He spoke about going through betrayal, false stories, and personal struggles, but added that his faith kept him going.
He wrote: “Two years ago today, everything went up in flames: my home, my peace, my comfort zone. And that was just the beginning. I have seen betrayal, lies, and storms that tried to silence everything I built.
“But I am still here, not because I am lucky, but because God is faithful and grave is louder than gossip, and purpose doesn’t burn in fire.
“They still plot, talk, but while they walk in darkness, I walk in light, every setback was a setup for something greater Thank You God for beauty after ashes.”
