If Wike Was Functioning, He Would Resolve PDP Crisis - Showunmi

Segun Sowunmi, a former campaign spokesman for former presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has wondered how the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would survive having an opponent like the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Sowunmi said PDP survived the first stroke by the G-5 group of governors.

During the 2023 presidential period, the G-5 led by then Rivers governor Nyesom Wike, worked against the PDP and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

While Wike and four other governors in the group worked for Tinubu, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Samuel Ortom, then governor of Benue State, supported Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi.

Meanwhile, the opposition coalition recently adopted the ADC.

Speaking via a post on X, Sowunmi said, “PDP seems to have survived the first stroke caused by G-5.

“Let us hope it can survive the second stroke caused by ADC.

“To pretend not to see their efforts is madness. @OfficialPDPNig, there is more to energizing a party than what the present handlers are doing.”

Meanwhile, Showunmi, has stated that the newly formed coalition lacks unity.

Naija News reports that key opposition political figures across the country recently adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their coalition party to unseat President Bola Tinubu through the ballot at the next general election.

Among its ranks are prominent politicians, including the former Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, the former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, the former Senate President, David Mark, the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Notably, Amaechi, Peter Obi, and Atiku have expressed interest in contesting the 2027 presidential election, but Mark has insisted that the coalition has no preferred candidate.

However, in an interview with Channels Television, Showunmi, who recently met with President Tinubu, stated that members of the coalition are all ambitious and would eventually turn on one another as the political battle intensifies.

He said, “They will quarrel among themselves over everything.

“Everybody in that coalition suddenly wants to be president all at time, and they will not be able to agree.”
