A man has been charged with the murder of a pregnant woman and her partner in what police describe as a targeted attack in Melbourne, Australia. Athena Georgopoulos, 39, who was believed to be five months pregnant, and her partner Andrew Gunn, 50, were found dead in their Mount Waverley home on Monday evening. Local reports allege Gunn had been decapitated, with his head mounted on a spike. Police were called to the address at about 9:20pm following reports of shouting. Minutes later, officers arrived to find the couple dead inside the property. Graffiti with messages including enough is enough, karma has no menu, and betrayal, unpredictable, inevitable was scrawled on the walls, which investigators are probing for links to the killings. Detective Inspector Dean Thomas said a second emergency call indicated the situation was more urgent than initially thought. It appears to be a targeted attack. Our suspect is known to the address, he said, adding that the alleged killer may have no fixed place of abode.
Family members have spoken of their devastation. Athenas aunt, Patty Dilveridis, told the Brisbane Times that her niece had been so looking forward to having a baby. She was 39 and she never thought she could have one. Shes going to be very sadly missed, she said. Athena was reportedly the primary carer for her mother, who has health issues. She was always very happy to look after her mum without fail, a family member said. A 34-year-old man was arrested at Westall railway station, about 6km from the scene, around 1:40am on Tuesday, August 12. He has been charged with two counts of murder and is due to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday. Police believe the victims knew their attacker and that an altercation may have occurred before the fatal incident. Forensic teams have been at the property as investigations continue. The post Pregnant woman k!lled , partners head cut off and put on spike appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
