Nollywood actor Ime Bishop Umoh, also known as Okon Lagos, has called on President Bola Tinubu to reward members of the Nigerian Police, the military, and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for their service to the nation, just as he did with the Super Falcons.

Naija News reports that the actor made the appeal through a social media post on Monday, shortly after the President honoured the Nigerian women’s football team for winning the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Each player and coach received $100,000, a three-bedroom flat, and a national honour during a ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on July 28.

Bishop Umoh said the reward for the Super Falcons was a good step but added that other citizens, especially those who serve in dangerous conditions, should also be remembered.

He mentioned frontline security agents battling violence and crime across the country and corps members serving in far-flung areas.

He wrote: “With specific reference to the Super Falcons and Youth Corps members, I posit that it’s commendable how Mr President is splashing out handsome rewards and incentives for excellent service to our country.

“It’s more impressive and inclusive that they are not in the political class. I humbly wish to add this as an earnest plea, Mr President sir, please extend this largesse to the Nigerian Police, the military, especially the ones who put their lives on the line at the frontline of war against violence, crimes, terror, and insurgency. There has to be a Nigerian first for all to be Nigerian.”
