No Sharia Arbitration In Ekiti State - Gov Oyebanji

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on Sunday night announced the dissolution of the State Executive Council with immediate effect.

Naija News reports that the directive, contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, in Ado-Ekiti, ordered all affected Commissioners and Special Advisers to hand over to the Permanent Secretary or the most senior civil servant in their respective ministries, departments, and agencies.

Governor Oyebanji expressed gratitude to the departing officials for their contributions to his administration.

“The Governor thanks the affected members of the State Executive Council and wishes them success in their future endeavours,” the statement read.

Notably, several commissioners retained their positions, including the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Commissioner for Education, Commissioner for Works, and Commissioner for Trade, Investment, Industry and Cooperatives.

Others spared from the shake-up were the Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion and the Special Adviser on Lands, Survey and e-GIS.

Also remaining in the cabinet are the Director General, Office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD); Director General, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Project Monitoring; and Director General, Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).

Although no official reason was given for the dissolution, political observers believe the move may be connected to the upcoming gubernatorial primaries scheduled for October 2, 2025, as the governor positions his team for the upcoming political battles.
