Former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has criticized Peter Obi’s pledge to serve only one term if elected president in 2027.
Naija News reports that Ahmad, who served under late former President Muhammadu Buhari, reacted on Tuesday via his social media handle.
He said that Obi, who was unable to make lasting changes during his tenure as Anambra governor, now claims he can turn things around in Nigeria within four years.
He wrote: “This individual, who couldn’t fix a dot within a circle after two full tenures, is now trying to convince us that he can fix the entire circle in just one. Isn’t that so insulting to our collective memory?”
His reaction follows Obi’s repeated assurance that he would serve only one term if elected.
Obi has maintained that he will step down on May 28, 2031, if elected.
According to him, he would use his time in office to build strong institutions, tackle insecurity, and stabilize the economy.
In a recent statement the former Anambra Governor insisted that he plans to govern Nigeria for only one term if elected as President, adding that turning the tide in four years is possible.
Naija News reports that the former Labour Party presidential candidate stated this while reacting to widespread criticism over his promise to do one term.
