NPFL Announce Kick-off Date For 2025/26 Season

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) reigning champions, Remo Stars, have secured the services of Malian Duo, midfielder Chaka Coulibaly and striker Adama Goïta on a two-year deal.

Coulibaly joined the NPFL champions from Association Sportive Binga FC of Mali, while Goïta joined on a free transfer after an impressive spell with AS Bakary Djan, where he netted 14 goals last season.

The Ikenne-based side, who lifted their first-ever NPFL title last campaign, will kick off their title defence at home against Rivers United on Friday.

Warri Wolves Sign 12 Players on Return to NPFL

Newly promoted Warri Wolves have also made a statement of intent by signing 12 players ahead of their top-flight return after four years in the lower division.

The fresh recruits include Ogar Okpam, Gift Isiom, Justus Ohanu, Ekene Olisema, Othuke Egbo, Edafe Kator, Oladeji Israel, Seth Mayi, Adebambo Ade, Orji Martins, Ogbu Chisom, and Bassey Bassey.

The Seasiders will face Katsina United in their opening match at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium on Friday, August 22.

Wikki Tourists Hand Managerial Role to Yusuf Gimba

Elsewhere, Wikki Tourists have turned to a familiar face by appointing Yusuf Gimba as manager. The former Bauchi Elephants midfielder won the NPFL title with the club back in 1992 and now returns to guide them from the dugout.

His appointment comes after the club bolstered its squad with nine new signings. Wikki Tourists are set to open their campaign against Plateau United.

Akwa United Restructure With New Coach and Management

In the Nigeria National League (NNL), Akwa United have appointed Paul Offor as their new technical adviser as they look to bounce back from NPFL relegation.

Offor will be assisted by Tosin Adekugbe, Okechukwu Promise, former Super Eagles goalkeeper Bassey Akpan, and ex-striker Akarandut Orok.

The club also unveiled Joseph Eno as chairman, with a new-look management team including Pastor Ini Edoho (Vice Chairman), Jimmy Joshua (General Manager), Elder Omon Bassey (Club Secretary), Festus Akpan (Team Manager), Mfon Patrick (Media Manager), and NsikakAbasi Akpan (Assistant Media Manager).
