Denzel Perryman, a linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers, was arrested on Friday, August 1, in Los Angeles on a felony weapons charge, according to law enforcement sources cited by TMZ. The NFL player was reportedly taken into custody by officers from the South Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station and booked for felony possession of an assault weapon. Authorities say Perryman was on his way to a gun range when his vehicle was searched. During the search, officers discovered two AR-style rifles and three handguns in his trunk. The rifles were found to be non-compliant with California state laws, making their possession illegal. As of Saturday morning, Perryman remained in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, August 5. This marks his first felony charge. Perryman previously faced disciplinary action from the NFL in 2023, when he was suspended without pay for three games due to repeated violations of the leagues player safety rules. At the time, he was playing for the Houston Texans. Originally drafted by the then-San Diego Chargers in 2015, Perryman played six seasons with the team before brief stints with the Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders, and the Texans. He rejoined the Chargers in 2024.The post NFL star Denzel Perryman arrested in L.A. for possession of an assault weapon appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
