Newcastle United have rejected a formal offer from Liverpool of around 110million for want-away striker Alexander Isak. The value of the bid falls some way short of the 150m it would take for them to consider a deal. Isak has expressed a desire to leave Newcastle this summer, although the club have remained firm in their not-for-sale stance. The Sweden international was left out of Newcastles pre-season squad and has been training alone at his former club, Real Sociedad, as speculation over his future continues. Newcastles intensified search for a new striker in recent weeks suggests they are resigned to losing Isak, but only after a replacement has been brought in. Liverpool had approached Newcastle informally just a few weeks after completing a 100m swoop for Florian Wirtz. Newcastle reportedly value Isak at a British-record transfer sum and are seeking a fee exceeding 150m to sanction a sale. Isak, with three years remaining on his contract, has emerged as one of the Premier Leagues most lethal forwards, netting 54 league goals over the last three seasons. Isak has reportedly agreed personal terms with Liverpool and has his heart set on a move to Anfield despite interest from Saudi Pro League clubs. Having recently parted ways with Luis Diaz in a deal worth up to 75m, Liverpool may return with an improved offer for Isak. The post Newcastle rejects official opening bid of 110million from Liverpool for striker Alexander Isak appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
