Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, is set to undergo a medical later today, August 7, ahead of a €9.5 million move to Turkish club Besiktas.

Naija News reports that Leicester City and Besiktas reached an agreement earlier this week, ending the Istanbul side’s long pursuit of Wilfred Ndidi. The Nigerian international has reportedly agreed to a three-year contract, with an option for a fourth.

Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg confirmed on Wednesday that the medical has been scheduled.

“Leicester are set to receive €9.5m. A mutual agreement between the 28 y/o defensive midfielder and the club has been reached. Contracts are now being checked. Medical is scheduled for Thursday,” he wrote.

Ndidi, in the final year of his contract with Leicester, chose not to renew following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

He had offers from several European clubs, including Everton, Valencia, and Real Betis, but opted to join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s project at Besiktas.

The Turkish club had initially failed to meet Leicester’s valuation, with their first offer of €7 million, spread over three years, rejected.

Ndidi has made over 240 appearances for the Foxes since joining in 2017 and featured 30 times last season, scoring once and providing five assists.

Besiktas, who finished fourth in the Turkish Super Lig last season, are undergoing a squad rebuild under Solskjaer.

However, the Norwegian manager is under pressure following a 4-2 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in the first leg of the Europa League second qualifying round. Reports in Turkey suggest the club is already considering managerial alternatives.

Meanwhile, Nigerian midfielder Joe Aribo could be on the move, with Spanish club Villarreal and German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig reportedly interested in the Southampton player.

Aribo, 28, made 32 appearances and scored three goals last season but is keen to leave after the Saints were relegated to the Championship.

Villarreal are said to have offered up to €12 million and are prepared to hand him a four-year contract worth €3.5 million annually. Leipzig have reportedly submitted a €10 million bid.

Recall that Aribo joined Southampton in 2022 from Rangers and has one year left on his contract.
