An urgent recall has been issued for three Dubai-style chocolate products due to the presence of undeclared allergens that could pose a serious health risk to consumers with nut allergies. The UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) has advised that Noesis Shokolade Love of Dubai, Fix it Dubai Kunafa Chocolate, and Le Damas Dubai Chocolate Kunafa and Pistachio all contain peanuts and other types of nuts, specifically almonds, cashews, and walnuts, that are not declared on their labels. The FSA warned that consuming these products without knowing about the hidden ingredients could trigger severe allergic reactions. In light of this, food businesses have been ordered to immediately halt sales, withdraw the items from shelves, and issue public recalls.  All affected products, regardless of batch or best-before date, have been traced back to a supplier named Black Sea Trading Ltd, which authorities say has so far been uncontactable. As a result, food safety action is required at the retail level to protect public health. Consumers who have purchased any of these chocolates are strongly advised not to eat them. Instead, they should dispose of the products and report to their local Trading Standards office with details of where the item was bought.  Dubai-style chocolate, originally created by Dubai-based firm Fix Dessert Chocolatier, has seen a surge in global popularity since its launch in 2021. It typically contains layers of crispy kunafa, pistachio cream, and tahini spread. A viral TikTok video by food influencer Maria Vehera helped elevate its status, pushing up demand worldwide.  This rising demand is also contributing to a global pistachio shortage, with Iran reportedly exporting 40% more pistachios to the UAE in the past six months compared to the entire previous year.
