Manchester United have agreed a deal worth £73.7 million with RB Leipzig to sign Slovenian striker, Benjamin Sesko.
The agreement includes a guaranteed payment of £66.3 million, with the remaining sum structured as performance-related add-ons.
Benjamin Sesko, 22, will now undergo a medical and complete other formalities before finalising his transfer to Old Trafford.
The Slovenian international, who was also on Newcastle United’s radar, has scored 39 goals in 87 appearances for the German club.
His move to Manchester United comes after a summer in which the club has already signed forwards Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for a combined £130 million.
Those transfers have been financially structured to allow continued investment, while Marcus Rashford’s £325,000-a-week wages are currently being covered in full by his loan spell at Barcelona.
United also received £5 million from Chelsea following the Blues’ withdrawal from a deal to sign Jadon Sancho.
The club could raise an additional £50 million through the sale of Alejandro Garnacho, who is attracting interest from Chelsea and has reportedly been made available for transfer.
Rasmus Hojlund, who scored 14 Premier League goals across two seasons, is also available for sale at a reported asking price of £30 million.
Sesko is currently the top-scoring under-23 player in Europe’s top five leagues since joining the Bundesliga, with 39 goals in 87 matches.
He leads Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham by one goal and is five ahead of Florian Wirtz, who joined Liverpool this summer for £100 million.
Sesko who is known for his speed, strength, aerial ability, and finishing, has drawn comparisons to Erling Haaland, with both players previously featuring for RB Salzburg.
He was one of the fastest strikers in the Bundesliga last season, reaching a top speed of 35.7km/h, and had the highest aerial success rate among strikers involved in at least 60 duels.
