Leeds United have completed the signing of Nigerian-born Swiss international Noah Okafor from AC Milan in an £18 million move, a transfer that pushes Premier League clubs’ spending this summer to a record-breaking £2.37 billion.
The 25-year-old forward has penned a four-year contract with the newly promoted side, becoming Leeds’ ninth addition since their return to the top flight.
For Okafor, the move represents the fulfilment of a lifelong ambition. “As a kid, I dreamed of playing in the Premier League. That’s why for me it was quite an easy decision,” he said.
“My football suits the Premier League so this is like a dream come true. I can’t wait to step on the field. I heard that the Premier League is the best in the world, it’s so intense. I have loads of friends that played there. I’m really, really excited.”
The striker’s arrival means the Premier League has already surpassed the previous record spend of £2.36 billion set in the summer of 2023.
Okafor began his career at Basel before moving to RB Salzburg, where he sharpened his attacking instincts, eventually joining AC Milan in 2023.
Despite making 54 appearances for the Rossoneri, he started just seven times, scoring seven goals. Last season, he was sent on loan to Napoli, where he featured mainly as a late substitute.
Opta data shows Okafor has split his playing time almost evenly between the left wing (47%) and central striker role (41%), often holding wide positions high up the pitch.
