Israel: Iran Executes Alleged Mossad Spy Over Nuclear Scientist Leak

The Iranian government on Wednesday announced it had executed a man accused of passing sensitive information to Israeli intelligence, Mossad, during the June conflict between the two countries.

According to the Iranian judiciary’s official media outlet, Mizan Online, the man, identified as Roozbeh Vadi, was executed by hanging after the country’s Supreme Court upheld his conviction.

“Roozbeh Vadi… was executed following judicial proceedings and confirmation of his sentence by the Supreme Court,” the report stated, alleging that he had leaked information about “a nuclear scientist who was assassinated during the Zionist regime’s recent aggression.”

Naija News reports that details about Vadi’s arrest and sentencing were not disclosed.

Mizan claimed that Vadi had been recruited online by Israel’s spy agency, Mossad, and later transferred “classified information” concerning Iranian nuclear personnel.

The execution follows heightened tensions between Iran and Israel in June, during which Israel reportedly launched an unprecedented 12-day bombing campaign on Iranian territory.

The Israeli strikes targeted both military facilities and civilian areas, killing hundreds, including senior military officers and at least a dozen nuclear scientists, according to Iranian media reports.

Iran retaliated with missile and drone strikes, escalating the conflict in what observers called one of the most dangerous flare-ups between the two nations in recent years.

Following the conflict, Iranian authorities pledged speedy trials for individuals accused of collaborating with Israel. Several arrests and executions have since been announced, with the judiciary intensifying its clampdown on suspected Mossad operatives.

Naija News reports that Iran remains one of the world’s leading executioners, second only to China, according to rights groups including Amnesty International. Many of the country’s executions are tied to charges of espionage, terrorism, or drug-related offences.

Rights organisations have continued to raise concerns over Iran’s judicial processes, alleging a lack of transparency and fair trials in capital punishment cases.
