Nigerian music video director, Clarence Peters, has admitted that he made the same mistakes his father, Shina Peters, made before he was able to forgive him.

Naija News reports that the 41-year-old filmmaker, in a podcast, said the realisation hit him around 2014 or 2015, and that moment helped him let go of the bitterness he had held onto for years.

He explained that although he never discussed the matter with his father at the time, he had already made peace within himself after noticing that his own life was repeating a similar pattern.

Clarence said that adulthood truly began for him when he stopped blaming others and took responsibility for his actions.

Clarence, who is the son of veteran actress Clarion Chukwura, said that time and technology helped prevent his mistakes from causing the kind of damage his father’s caused.

He also said he has been trying not to copy his father’s approach to relationships with women, even though he admits he is not perfect.

He said, “I made every single mistake my father made.

“I was just fortunate that time and technology prevented mine from being as disastrous as his. Once I realised that, I forgave him immediately, even before we talked. That was the start of my adulthood, and I’m still on that journey because adulthood never really ends.”
