Leader of Power City International Ministry, Pastor Abel Damina has stated that tattoos are not sinful if they are used to honour God.
Naija News reports that he revealed this while speaking during the 234 Mzansi Podcast with co-host Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, also known as Nedu Wazobia.
The controversial clergyman explained that the Old Testament forbade body markings, but the New Testament brought a change through the teachings of Jesus, who removed such laws.
Damina said people are free to have tattoos as long as the images or words carry meaning and glorify God.
He said: “In the Old Testament, tattoos were prohibited because they say you shouldn’t draw marks on your body. But in the New Testament, Jesus has abolished that law.
“So, if you want to have a tattoo, God is not against it. It’s your body. But make sure what you are putting there honours God and has meaning.”
In other news, Nigerian music video director, TG Omori, has shared how the church played a major role in shaping his career in filmmaking.
Naija News reports that he explained that his journey into directing began during church drama nights, which gave him a platform to discover and develop his acting and directing skills.
In a post on Twitter, he explained that at the time, his neighbourhood had no social clubs or community theatres.
