Hamas accepts latest Gaza ceasefire Proposal

Hamas militants have informed mediators that it accepts the latest ceasefire proposal for Gaza, according to international and Israeli media outlets citing Hamas officials. While details remain limited, reports indicate that the revised proposal was presented to Hamas a day earlier. It reportedly builds on the groups previous response, which included a framework for a 60-day ceasefire and a two-step release of hostages held in Gaza. Egyptian and Qatari mediators are leading the negotiations in their ongoing effort to broker a truce between Israel and Hamas. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz reacted by saying Hamas agreed to discuss the deal only because of its fear that we seriously intend to conquer Gaza City. Speaking to senior Israeli officers, Katz stressed that seizing control of the city will lead to the defeat of Hamas, as the groups leadership and military infrastructure remain concentrated there. Israel has announced plans to capture Gaza City following earlier breakdowns in negotiations, sparking international concern over a worsening humanitarian crisis.
