'FG Threatening Governors To Defect, Planning To Rig 2027 Elections' - Galadima Asserts

A chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has asserted that the Federal Government is plotting to rig the 2027 general elections.

Naija News reports that Galadima, who featured on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, said the NNPP was ready to teach the ruling government a political lesson when Nigerians return to the polls.

“What is going on is very easy. What this government is planning is to rig the election in 2027,” he alleged.

When asked how he knew about the alleged plan, Galadima claimed the government’s actions already gave them away.

“From their antics, they say it. When they go to a governor to ask him to decamp, if you don’t decamp, we will take away the power from you, not that we will get you to be voted out. That’s what they do and they don’t understand,” he said.

The NNPP chieftain lamented what he described as the absence of genuine politicians in the country, insisting that most players in the political space were opportunists.

“There are no politicians in the country,” Galadima said, adding that his refusal to play along with the system explains why he has not held elective office.

“In the context of Nigerian politics, I am considered a bad politician,” he added.

By-Elections ‘Illegal’ – Says Galadima

Commenting on the just-concluded by-elections across 12 states, the NNPP stalwart accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of violating constitutional provisions.

“I want to make a very important issue out of this by-election. All of them were conducted illegally by INEC,” he declared.

Galadima argued that the law compels INEC to fill vacancies within three months, but said some of the polls were held almost two years after.

“If affected candidates go to courts to challenge the elections, they could be declared null and void because that is what the constitution says,” he maintained.

The politician vowed that the NNPP would resist attempts at manipulation and mobilise Nigerians to defend their votes.

Galadima’s comments come amid opposition criticisms of INEC’s handling of recent polls, with the electoral body yet to formally respond to the claims.
