Everton have agreed a season-long loan deal for Manchester City star Jack Grealish who has failed to establish himself under the tutelage of coach Pep Guardiola.
According to a BBC Sport report, both clubs have reached an agreement, with a medical now imminent for Jack Grealish, 29, who is reportedly on a £300,000-a-week contract at City.
Grealish’s future at the Etihad has been under scrutiny for months after he fell out of favour under Pep Guardiola. He was omitted from the squad for the final Premier League match at Fulham and also left out of City’s Club World Cup trip to the United States.
The England international joined from Aston Villa in August 2021 for a then-British record £100 million fee, going on to make more than 150 appearances and win three Premier League titles, a Champions League crown, and an FA Cup.
But last season was his most challenging yet, limited to just seven league starts as City endured a rare campaign without a major trophy.
Recall that Grealish remained on the bench during City’s FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace, with Guardiola opting to hand a debut to teenage sensation Claudio Echeverri instead.
Although the forward initially wanted a permanent move this summer, preferably to a Champions League club interest from the likes of Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur never materialised. That has left Everton as the prime destination, even if European football is not on offer.
However, the Toffees can provide Grealish a leading role at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium and a platform for him to rediscover his best form.
The English winger will also have one eye on England duty, eager to reclaim his place in Thomas Tuchel’s squad after confessing last year he was “heartbroken” over missing out on Euro 2024.
