Belgian midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne has shared insight into the contrasting coaching styles of Pep Guardiola and Antonio Conte, following his recent move from Manchester City to Napoli.

Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has stressed that Pep Guardiola’s coaching style at Manchester City is more focused on ball possession, contrary to that of Antonio Conte at Napoli.

The former Manchester City captain who joined the Serie A side on a free transfer this summer, has already featured in three pre-season matches under Conte.

Kevin de Bruyne, 34, brings a wealth of experience from top European clubs and has worked with elite managers including Jose Mourinho, Manuel Pellegrini, and Dieter Hecking. However, his longest stint was under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, where he spent eight successful years.

In an interview with Corriere dello Sport, De Bruyne offered a comparison between Guardiola’s and Conte’s tactical approaches.

“I’d say they’re two different ways of playing: Pep is probably a little more focused on ball control and possession, while Conte is a little more structured in his game and focuses a lot on mentality,” De Bruyne said.

He added, “Pep works more on the zonal area. There are a couple of different things, but every coach has their own principles and characteristics.”

De Bruyne’s move to Napoli marks a new chapter in his career, as he looks to adapt to Italian football. Napoli are counting on his vast experience to boost their domestic and European ambitions this season.
