Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has revealed that he ordered his players to keep pushing for another goal after opening the scoring against Zimbabwe in a crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying match held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Tuesday.

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has vowed that Nigeria will go all out for victory when they face Sudan in a crucial Group B clash at the 2024 African Nations Championship in Zanzibar.

The home-based Super Eagles are under pressure after falling 1-0 to defending champions Senegal in their opening fixture.

Another slip-up at the Amman Stadium on Tuesday could see their tournament hopes dashed early.

Chelle is under no illusions about the stakes, but says his players are ready to respond. “It’s a big game, it’s an important game (vs Sudan), we need to win tomorrow and after that we will see,” he told reporters ahead of the game.

For Sudan, the situation is equally tense. The Falcons came agonisingly close to victory in their first match against Congo Brazzaville, only to concede a late equaliser that left them with a single point. Now they face a Super Eagles side eager to bounce back.

Head coach Kwesi Appiah admits Nigeria’s pedigree makes them a formidable opponent, but insists his players will approach the game with confidence.

“Nigeria is one of the biggest nations in African football and we respect them, but we won’t fear them,” Appiah told journalists on Monday.
