The opening round of the 2025 Carabao Cup produced surprises across stadiums in the United Kingdom on Tuesday night, with 29 teams booking their place in the next stage of the competition.
By the final whistle, the Championship led the charge, sending 13 clubs into the Carabao Cup Round Two. Among them are Bristol City, Charlton, Coventry, Derby, Millwall, Norwich, Oxford, Plymouth, Preston, Southampton, Stoke, Swansea, and Wrexham.
League One will also be strongly represented, with 12 teams advancing: AFC Wimbledon, Bradford, Cardiff, Doncaster, Lincoln, Mansfield, Port Vale, Reading, Rotherham, Stockport, Wigan, and Wycombe.
League Two, though smaller in number, still made its mark with four qualifiers: Accrington, Bromley, Cambridge, and Grimsby, proving that lower-league sides can dream big in the cup.
One fixture, Tranmere Rovers against Burton Albion, was postponed and will be rescheduled, meaning one more team is still to join the Round Two lineup.
