Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Yves Bissouma, has been left out of the squad for Wednesday night’s UEFA Super Cup showdown against Paris Saint-Germain due to repeated lateness.
Spurs, led by manager Thomas Frank, have travelled to Udine, Italy, to face Luis Enrique’s side without Bissouma.
Explaining the decision, Frank said, “Bissouma isn’t here because of disciplinary reasons. He has been late several times, the latest one too many.
“We need to give love and have demands but there have to be consequences. There’s been a consequence, we will follow it up when we get home and park it for now.”
Turning attention to the match, Frank emphasised the importance of structure and discipline on the pitch.
“I want to have a clear structure in phases one and two when we are building up. We want to control the game and in phase three, we want to score. For the club, me and everyone involved at Tottenham, it’s a massive game… I see opportunities instead of pressure.”
Meanwhile, the Premier League will hold moments of silence at all matches this weekend in memory of former Liverpool and Wolves forward Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, who tragically died in a car crash in northern Spain in July.
Players will wear black armbands, and tributes will be displayed on stadium screens.
Liverpool and Wolves have also planned individual commemorations during their respective openers against Bournemouth and Manchester City.
The tributes follow a poignant yet disrupted minute’s silence at Wembley before Liverpool’s Community Shield clash with Crystal Palace, where wreaths were laid by Ian Rush, Palace chairman Steve Parish, and FA chair Debbie Hewitt.
