The Akure Division of the Court of Appeal in Ondo State on Thursday, July 31, upheld the election of the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as the winner of the governorship election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission November 16, 2024. The three-member panel of the Appeal court led by Justice Yargata Nimpar unanimously ruled in Aiyedatiwas favour. It affirmed the decision of the lower Ondo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal which earlier validated the governors victory in the November 16, 2024 election. The Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate in the election, Agboola Ajayi, to affirm Governor Aiyedatiwas election. The Justice Nimpar led panel of the appellate court dismissed Mr Agboolas appeal, describing it as devoid of merit.
