Nigeria international Ademola Lookman appears to have drawn a firm line under his time at Atalanta, with reports in Italy alleging that the winger has refused to feature for the club again.
The Super Eagles star, who has been a key figure for La Dea since his arrival, is said to have informed the Serie A side that he will no longer make himself available for selection. The development comes as Inter Milan gears up for a third attempt to land the 26-year-old.
Inter have already seen two bids rejected, but the Nerazzurri are reportedly ready to get close to Atalanta’s valuation this time. Nigerian sports journalist Onyebuchi Onokala, popularly known as Buchi Laba, confirmed the fresh push in a post on 𝕏.
“100% Confirmed: Inter Milan will make another Offer for Ademola Lookman. This 3rd offer will be close to what Atlanta wants. Lookman has made it very clear to Atalanta he won’t play for the club anymore. He wants Inter but Atalanta wants to sell him to clubs outside Italy,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, over in Germany, Erik ten Hag is set to take charge of his first competitive game as Bayer Leverkusen boss since replacing Xabi Alonso, who departed for Real Madrid in June.
The former Manchester United manager will be working with Nigerian duo Nathan Tella and Victor Boniface, although the latter will miss the DFB Pokal clash against SG Sonnenhof Großaspach due to fitness concerns.
“Boni is making progress, but he is not yet where he should be,” Ten Hag told BILD.
Leverkusen, who lifted the Bundesliga title last season, will be expected to ease past their fourth-tier opponents, but all eyes remain on how Ten Hag will stamp his mark on the reigning champions in his debut campaign.
