Ademola Lookman’s future at Atalanta has taken a dramatic twist after the Nigerian international failed to report for training on Monday.
Naija News has reported that Ademola Lookman who is determined to leave Atalanta this summer, confirmed that he has sent a transfer request to the club.
He also revealed that the club has refused to allow him to join another side, contrary to a gentleman’s agreement the two parties had.
Following his revelations, Atalanta stressed that the promise they made to Lookman concerning his future was that they would allow him to go if a top club outside Italy sought his signature. Recently, Atalanta reportedly turned down an offer from domestic rivals, Inter Milan.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano revealed on 𝕏 that Lookman decided to boycott training in protest of a rejected bid from Inter Milan, believed to be worth €42 million plus €3 million in add-ons.
The transfer expert said, “Ademola Lookman didn’t show up for training today as he keeps insisting on the plan to leave Atalanta. Atalanta maintains their position; no way to let him go for €42 million plus €3 million, a proposal rejected last week. No fresh bid from Inter so far.”
The stalemate has reportedly left Lookman frustrated, especially as Atalanta appears reluctant to sell him to another Italian club, effectively narrowing his options.
Due to the player’s impressive form last season, including a standout performance in the UEFA Europa League final, the Bergamo-based club is holding firm on its valuation. While Inter remain keen, they have yet to return with an improved offer.
