The Abia State Police Command has neutralised five members of a notorious kidnapping gang in a major breakthrough aimed at curbing abductions in the Umuozuo community. According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, the operation followed credible intelligence that led a joint tactical team to storm a kidnappers hideout at Umuiku Obete Village in Ukwa West Local Government Area. The suspects were linked to multiple cases of kidnapping in the region. Recovered from the scene were six AK-47 rifles, 335 rounds of ammunition, 14 magazines, five mobile phones, three cutlasses, five jackets, one axe, one boot, several charms, and a double-barrel long gun. Chinaka stated that investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the gang who fled during the operation. In a separate incident, officers from the Arochukwu Divisional Headquarters recovered another double-barrel long gun at Amuvi Village in Arochukwu. Commissioner of Police Danladi Isa reaffirmed the Commands determination to eradicate crime and restore peace in all parts of the state.
