Tinubu: ‘Any Attempt To Replace Shettima Will Backfire’ – APC Youth Warns Ahead Of 2027 Polls

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth in the North-East Zone has cautioned party leaders against moves to replace Vice President Kashim Shettima on the party’s ticket for the 2027 general election.

The group warned that such a decision could damage the party’s unity and President Bola Tinubu’s re-election chances.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday in Bauchi, the group’s chairman, Kabiru Kobi, described the speculation over Shettima’s possible substitution as “a dangerous rumour capable of destabilising the APC.”

Kobi stressed that the APC Youth Parliament remains firmly behind the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, describing the duo as tested and trusted leaders who have demonstrated the capacity to steer the country through challenging times.

“We want to state it unequivocally clear that any attempt to reconfigure the joint ticket of His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu/Kashim Shettima in 2027 will only bring resentment that could linger beyond the elections, with negative reverberations capable of affecting the party’s success,” Kobi said.

He warned that the party must avoid repeating mistakes made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015, when internal strife contributed to its electoral defeat.

“It is far from hidden that the ghost of the PDP’s past actions still haunts the party today — history has little patience for those who choose to ignore its lessons,” he added.

Kobi further alleged that the speculated plot to replace Shettima was not just an attack on the Vice President but a calculated attempt to weaken Tinubu politically.

“At this juncture, we wish to inform His Excellency, our popular and charismatic leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that the calculated attacks are not truly aimed at the Vice President but at you. What these assailants are trying to achieve by this hypocrisy is to replace Kashim Shettima with someone of a fragile political reputation,” he said.

“They know fully well that the Vice President would pacify his supporters to leave everything to God, and that would leave you to face the wrath of the Nigerian populace. This is because, in His just nature, God dislikes injustice.”

The Youth Parliament pledged to continue mobilising support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket and urged all APC members to remain united ahead of the next general elections.

Kobi also raised concerns about growing tensions within the party, warning that internal divisions could destabilise the APC before 2027.

He concluded by reaffirming the group’s confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, particularly commending his courage in making tough economic decisions and steering the nation through difficult reforms.
