The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has donated the sum of ₦900,000 to the family of one of its officers, SC Bashir Adamu Jibrin, who was killed while on duty.
The State Commandant of NSCDC, CC Bala Bawa Bodinga, presented the donation to the deceased officer’s wife during activities marking his 100 days in office celebration at the Command’s headquarters in Dutse.
Naija News understands that Jibrin was attacked and killed by hoodlums after he arrested a wanted suspect at Shiwarin market, Kiyawa Local Government Area, according to reports.
Bodinga explained that the gesture was aimed at supporting the bereaved family and assisting in the upkeep of the officer’s children.
“₦600,000 was contributed by his colleagues, ₦100,000 by Dutse Local Government council chairman, and ₦200,000 by a businessman, Alhaji Nura Maigatari Danbahago,” he stated.
The Commandant also pledged personal support to the family.
“From my side also, I will be giving the family ₦20,000 every month until I leave the state,” Bodinga announced.
He commended the late officer for his selfless service and sacrifice, describing him as a committed personnel who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.
Bodinga advised the widow to make good use of the money for the children’s education and welfare, assuring that the command would continue to honour the officer’s memory.
The widow, who was visibly emotional, expressed appreciation to the command for the gesture and promised to utilise the support appropriately.
