Nigeria international Ademola Lookman has reopened the door to a Premier League move after his transfer to Inter Milan broke down.

Ademola Lookman, 27, who staged a two-week training strike in protest against Atalanta’s refusal to sanction his switch, has now returned to the club’s Zingonia training base. Inter formally withdrew their interest this week, ending protracted negotiations with the Bergamo outfit.

According to TBR Football, Lookman’s representatives have reached out to Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Aston Villa as they work on securing a move back to England.

“Lookman is hugely disappointed not to move to Inter, his head was in Milan and he put in a transfer request, which in itself is quite rare nowadays,” TBR chief correspondent Graeme Bailey said. “But his people are looking at options, and there are teams, big teams, in England who would be interested.”

Bailey noted the circumstances that could make English clubs consider a move: “Tottenham’s move for Savinho has stalled, Arsenal still haven’t got their new left winger, and Chelsea haven’t finalised the Garnacho deal yet. City might yet need to replace Savinho whilst Aston Villa have just sold Jacob Ramsey, it is not hard to see why Lookman’s people are in contact with these Premier League clubs.”

Atalanta are demanding £45 million for the forward, who has been hailed by former manager Gian Piero Gasperini as “a truly extraordinary player, among the best in Europe and the world.”

Lookman now faces fines and wage deductions for his absence, with La Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that Atalanta intends to sanction him. However, head coach Ivan Juric is reluctant to lose another key attacker following the sale of top scorer Mateo Retegui.
