The woman who was punched in the stomach by her brother has responded to claims made by her older sister, clarifying the details surrounding the family dispute. The woman, who recently gave birth via caesarean section, told LIB that the conflict began after her mother, who came to help care for her following the birth, fell ill and had to move with her to their fathers house for treatment. She said she is the second-born of five siblings; the older sister is the firstborn, the brother who assaulted her is the third, and they have a younger brother working in Abuja and a younger sister in secondary school. She accused her older sister and younger brother of disrespecting their mother and insulting her during this period. On the day of the incident, she described how her younger brother aggressively banged on the gate to their home and called out for the youngest sibling rather than inviting their mother to open it. The older sister then arrived, accusing her family members of wrongdoing. The new mother explained that while attending to her sonwho was suffering from jaundice and had just received immunizationshe went to get cold water to ease his pain. On her way, she encountered her brother and youngest sibling peeling plantains and blocking the path. When she asked them to move, her brother told her to find another way. Frustrated, she kicked the plantains, which sparked a heated argument. Their mother came in to ask what was wrong, only for her brother to insult her, calling her an “evil woman.” In response, the new mother slapped her brother for the insult. He then attacked her, punching her three times in the stomach near her recent surgical site. She managed to retreat to a locked room with her mother to escape further harm. Their older sister returned, banging on the door and threatening them. She called her husband, who witnessed the brother pick up a broom threatening to assault her. The new mother then contacted their younger brother in Abuja, who helped arrange for the police to be involved. She led the police to arrest her brother, who resisted by locking himself in the bathroom and continued verbally abusing her in front of officers. The police eventually took the brother away, but he was bailed out by their father the same day, who has not publicly addressed or mediated the situation. The woman said her brother has not apologized, and accused the older sister of spreading falsehoods, including attacks against her husband. Watch the video below..
