
The Nigerian Army has announced a minor shake-up in its high command with the appointment of new Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), General Officers Commanding (GOCs), and senior commanders to head key formations across the country.
According to the army authorities, the reorganisation is aimed at repositioning the force for greater efficiency and operational effectiveness.
In the new posting, Major General Chinedu Nnebeife has been appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, Ibadan, while Major General A.S.K. Wase assumes duty as GOC 1 Division, Kaduna.
Major General M.O. Erebelu has been named the new Provost Marshal (PM), while Major General A.A. Idris has been appointed Chief of Military Intelligence (CMI).
The postings also saw Major General J.E. Osifo appointed as the Director General of the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration (NASFA).
Similarly, Major General A.A. Adeyinka is now Chief of Logistics, Army Headquarters, while Major General Adetoba takes charge as Commandant of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM).
In another development, the former CMI, Major General Ugiagbe, has been redeployed as Chief of Army Standards and Evaluation (CASE).
Also, Major General Akesode has been designated Head of Mission, Monitoring, Verification and Compliance Mission in the Tigray Region of Ethiopia.
The shake-up also affected the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Centre (NACWC), now to be headed by Major General M.T. Abdullahi, among other new postings.
The Army stated that all the new postings and appointments will take effect between August 19 and 25, 2025.
