Former Secretary General of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Anthony Sani, has ruled out the possibility of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan, defeating President Bola Tinubu if they join the 2027 race.

Naija News reports that Sani made this known during an interview with Daily Post, stating that Atiku cannot garner the same kind of votes he received during the 2023 presidential election in 2027.

Sani stated that, given the current political atmosphere in the North, the dynamics of zoning politics do not favour Atiku, as both the North and the South desire the president to be from the North in 2031.

According to Sani, Northerners will not support Atiku in the 2027 election despite being from the region.

He said, “Since most southerners would prefer the president to remain in the South for eight years from 2023 and most Northerners would prefer President Bola Tinubu because he is the only southerner who has only one term of four years to go, it will be difficult for former VP Atiku to device any winning game plan in the circumstance.

“I told you the dynamics of the politics of zoning does not favor Atiku because both the North and the South want the president to be in the North in 2031.

“Note that in 2023, Bola Tinubu prevailed in the north despite Atiku being their own, all because of the politics of zoning.”
