Paris Saint-Germain are on the verge of signing Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade in a move that would increase the presence of Nigerians at the club.
The 24-year-old winger, who left Atlético Madrid in June after her contract expired, has been a free agent and the subject of interest from several top clubs.
While teams in Major League Soccer were reportedly keen on her services, PSG have emerged as the frontrunners, and, according to sources close to the deal, the race for her signature is all but won.
If the move is finalised, Ajibade will join fellow Nigerian international Jennifer Echegini, who has already become a vital figure in the French D1 Arkema side’s midfield.
Ajibade’s stock has risen sharply in recent months following her standout performances at the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco. She captained the Super Falcons to a record-extending 10th continental title and was deservedly named Player of the Tournament.
The pacey winger, known for her explosive runs and eye for goal, would add depth and flair to PSG’s attack as they continue their push for domestic and European glory.
With negotiations believed to be in their final stages, PSG supporters may not have to wait long before seeing Ajibade don the famous blue and red. If confirmed, the move could be one of the headline signings of the D1 Arkema season.
