The Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Orji Uzor Kalu, has disclosed that suspected fraudsters are trying to impersonate him.
He stated this in a statement issued on Thursday by his media office. According to the statement, the lawmaker is being impersonated via WhatsApp.
While calling on the public to disregard every communication from the two mobile numbers used for the fraudulent activities, the lawmaker said he has a single line, which has not been changed.
The statement reads, “Kindly disregard the two numbers claiming to be Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
“Since the inception of network services, Senator Kalu has consistently been in communication with a single network line and these numbers below are none of them.
“The general public should please beware of desperate fraudsters.”
Meanwhile, former President Goodluck Jonathan has raised the alarm over a fraudulent Instagram account impersonating him.
In a statement released on Thursday, Jonathan insisted that he does not operate any Instagram handle, urging the public to disregard the fake account.
The former President, through his Media Aide, Ikechukwu Eze, said the impostor account, operating under the handle goodluck_ebelejonathan, had been deceitfully posting content, some of which was copied from Jonathan’s official Facebook page.
The statement, titled “Beware of Fake Instagram Account Impersonating H.E. Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan”, clarified that the account was falsely representing Jonathan.
“Our attention has been drawn to a fraudulent Instagram account operating under the handle goodluck_ebelejonathan, which is falsely impersonating former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan,” the statement read.
Jonathan’s spokesperson stressed that the former President does not manage any Instagram profile and warned the media and the public to avoid engaging with the fake account.
“We wish to emphasise that Dr. Jonathan does not operate any Instagram account. The media and members of the public are strongly advised to disregard, avoid sharing, or promoting any content originating from this fake profile,” the statement further advised.
