Super Eagles midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, has officially said “I do” to his Moroccan partner, Nana Bensouna, in a private nikkah ceremony held in Manchester, United Kingdom.

The occasion was attended by close family members, including the groom’s parents, Otunba and Yeye Jagunmola Dele and Dupe Bashiru-Kaka, as well as the bride’s parents, Mr and Mrs Bensouna.

The couple, who have kept their relationship largely out of the public eye, opted for a quiet celebration surrounded by loved ones.

The wedding comes at a pivotal moment in Dele-Bashiru’s career, as he gears up for a bigger role at Lazio under new manager Maurizio Sarri.

The 23-year-old impressed the Italian tactician during pre-season, featuring in friendlies against Avellino and Fenerbahce, and is now being tipped for a breakout season.

Sarri, who has been publicly vocal about his admiration for the midfielder’s potential, told Pazzidifanta: “Dele-Bashiru is a very strong guy who, if he manages to learn a few moves, can give us a big hand. I have heard good things about him from professionals outside of Lazio. And I’m not talking about the Lazio environment, but about sporting directors from other clubs. Probably he has some qualities, evidently.”

Last season, Dele-Bashiru made 20 league appearances under Marco Baroni, scoring three goals. Having joined Lazio last summer from Hatayspor, first on loan before sealing a permanent €5 million move, he is now seen as one of the squad’s rising assets ahead of their Serie A opener against Como on August 24.

On the international stage, the former Sheffield Wednesday and Manchester City player has already made a strong impression with Nigeria.

In just seven appearances for the Super Eagles, he has scored twice and contributed key moments, including an assist and a penalty win against Mozambique in October 2023, followed by a spectacular equaliser against South Africa in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
