Nollywood actress Mary Njoku has spoken out against how Ibom Air handled the case of Comfort Emmanson, after a video circulated showing her being dragged off the plane with her breasts exposed.

Naija News reports that Njoku said the way Emmanson was treated is wrong and goes beyond acceptable conduct.

The incident happened when Emmanson was offloaded from the flight by airline officials.

While Njoku agreed that removing a passenger may be necessary in some cases, she objected strongly to the act of stripping Emmanson and sharing the footage online, describing it as a serious violation of her dignity.

Njoku stated that airline staff are supposed to be trained professionals and should act in a respectful and humane manner.

She said that even law enforcement officers ensure that suspects or criminals are not paraded naked in public, so airline workers should follow similar standards.

She also called for Emmanson to receive compensation for the harm done to her reputation and personal dignity.

Njoku said the situation is unacceptable and that the passenger should not face these consequences alone.

Njoku wrote, “I understand removing her from the plane, that’s not the issue. What I cannot understand is stripping her while doing so and then putting it all over the internet.

“Airline or airport staff are trained professionals, and I refuse to believe that dehumanising someone, stripping a woman naked, and broadcasting it online is part of that training, no matter what crime she may have committed.

“I’ve seen police parade even criminals and alleged murderers, and they still ensure those people are dressed and their private parts are covered. Authorities do not parade people naked. How much more should we expect from airline officials? They are not thugs!!!

“While she is being penalised or sent to jail for her actions, she should not be walking away from this alone. She deserves compensation for the damage done to her life and the dignity of every Nigerian woman. Because this is NOT acceptable!!!! Absolutely NOT acceptable!!!”
