Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, has made it clear he is only interested in joining Inter Milan, despite interest from Premier League side Arsenal.
Ademola Lookman, 27, is currently in dispute with Atalanta after the club refused to sanction his transfer to Inter. Lookman has not reported for pre-season training and is said to have left Italy without permission.
Atalanta have rejected two bids from Inter and are holding out for €50 million, which they consider their full value. The club is open to offers from outside Italy, but Lookman has shown no willingness to consider other options.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, “Lookman is absolutely set on joining Inter. The Nerazzurri have a full agreement with the Nigerian international. They have done so for some time.”
The outlet also reported, “Inter are not pursuing any other attacking targets. This is partly to keep Lookman confident and happy, and ensure that other suitors don’t turn his head. Inter coach Cristian Chivu has made Lookman a priority target. He is ready to change the team’s formation to suit the former Leicester City forward.”
Football Italia says Atalanta’s owners, the Percassi family, are preparing legal action over the player’s unauthorised absence, which could result in a fine.
Meanwhile, English Championship club Ipswich Town have signed Nigerian striker Chuba Akpom on a season-long loan from Ajax Amsterdam.
The 29-year-old spent last season on loan at Lille in the French Ligue 1, where he also featured in the UEFA Champions League. Ipswich will be obligated to make the move permanent for £7 million if they secure promotion to the Premier League.
Speaking to Town TV, Akpom said: “I was really excited when I heard of the interest and I’m delighted to have joined a club with such big ambitions. I watch a lot of football and have always thought Ipswich would suit my style, so this move makes perfect sense.”
“I have had lots of good experiences over the last few years, at Ajax and playing in the Champions League with Lille, and I feel like all of these have improved me as a player and helped me be the person I am now,” he added.
“I’m here to do as much as I can to help the team, in the changing room and on the pitch, and I’ll bring a winning mentality here.”
Akpom becomes Ipswich’s sixth summer signing and could make his debut in Tuesday’s League Cup fixture against Bromley.
