Super Eagles forward, Moses Simon, was given a hero’s welcome on Saturday as he returned to FC Nantes for the first time since his summer move to Paris FC.
Moses Simon, 29, who spent six memorable seasons with the Canaries, was honoured before kick-off in the pre-season clash at the Stade de la Beaujoire, which Paris FC won 3–2.
Simon, who left Nantes in July for a reported €7 million fee, was met with a guard of honour from players, thunderous applause from the stands, and a special plaque presentation recognising his service to the club.
Visibly moved, Simon later took to social media to share his gratitude.
“Thank you for the warm welcome at FC Nantes. Honoured by the tribute and grateful to play again in front of the amazing Nantes fans. It was also special to reunite with my former teammates,” the Nigerian international posted on 𝕏.
Simon’s years in Nantes colours were defined by consistency and big moments. He arrived on loan from Levante in 2019 before making the deal permanent a year later.
In total, he racked up 201 appearances, scoring 37 goals and providing 42 assists. His pace and creativity made him a constant threat in Ligue 1, while his work ethic earned him cult-hero status among the fans.
The Nigerian international played a pivotal role in Nantes’ Coupe de France triumph in 2022 and featured in back-to-back finals in 2022 and 2023.
He was also instrumental in keeping the club in France’s top flight on multiple occasions, most recently during the 2024/2025 campaign when his eight goals and 10 assists helped secure a 13th-place finish, six points clear of relegation.
Now settling in at newly promoted Paris FC, Simon has already featured twice in pre-season and is looking forward to the challenges ahead.
