Nollywood actress Evan Okoro has cried out over threats to her life, pointing fingers at her estranged husband following the breakdown of their marriage.
Naija News reports that the actress, known for her role as ‘Doctor Maria’ in the movie ‘Sexy Investment’, took to Instagram to reveal that she has been living in fear since their separation.
She disclosed that the marriage had become unbearable, describing it as a decision she now regrets.
Okoro said her bride price was never paid, and efforts by her family to correct that have failed.
According to her, the relationship turned toxic when her husband became controlling and attempted to take the money she earned from a recent business trip to Lagos.
She alleged that he became violent after she refused.
The actress claimed she has been left without emotional or financial support and that her reports to his family brought no change.
Okoro said she has already taken the issue to the police and is speaking out now for her safety.
“This marriage is not working. The shoe I took home is not my size. They didn’t pay my bride price, and my family recently called them to come and do it properly.
“I got a little money for an advert in Lagos, less than my normal endorsement fee. He wanted the money, and when I refused, he got angry. He didn’t even call to check on me after the trip. It’s been over two weeks now.
“He’s jealous of my success. I built that house myself. I started it before he came into my life.
“I’m not asking anyone for money. I just want to finish my house and focus on my life. If I keep living like this, I will go down six feet,” she said.
