The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has requested Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to seize a 2019 Lamborghini Urus allegedly tied to a fraud case.

Naija News reports that the car was found in the possession of popular Ghanaian musician, Shatta Wale, and was taken from his residence in Trassaco during a lawful search.

According to the FBI, the vehicle is connected to Nana Kwabena Amuah, a Ghanaian currently jailed in the United States for committing various financial crimes.

He is serving an 86-month sentence, and the car is believed to be part of the illegal gains from his activities.

The US has requested the return of the Lamborghini as part of a $4.7 million restitution plan.

In a statement released by EOCO’s acting director, Raymond Archer, the agency said the seizure happened in June after a lawful search conducted by its Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit.

EOCO explained that the seizure followed proper procedures and was carried out without any confrontation.

Officers on the operation were armed for safety reasons.

Shatta Wale, who expressed anger on social media about the armed officers, accused EOCO of trying to disgrace him.

He questioned why guns were necessary for the operation and criticised the agency’s director.

The musician also said he was not aware of any link between the car and Nana Kwabena Amuah.

He insisted that he bought the Lamborghini as a third-party buyer for $150,000 and never had any dealings with the jailed man.

He said he had no idea who originally shipped the car into Ghana.

EOCO claimed that Shatta Wale asked them not to publicise the seizure because the vehicle was closely tied to his image.

The agency allowed him to hand over the car himself, and it is now in EOCO’s custody.
