Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has congratulated Joe Ikpea and Omosede Igbinedion, for their victories in the just-concluded bye-elections for Edo Central Senatorial District and Ovia Federal Constituency.

The elections, which were held on Saturday, saw the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates, Ikpea and Igbinedion, emerge winners.

In a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Fred Itua on Sunday, the governor added that the results are a boost to President Bola Tinubu’s chances in the 2027 presidential race.

He commended voters for turning out in large numbers to back the party’s candidates.

He also expressed confidence that Ikpea and Igbinedion will represent their constituencies effectively in the National Assembly and work towards attracting development to their areas.

Okpebholo applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting what he described as a credible exercise and thanked security agencies for ensuring peace during the polls.

He called on residents of the state to support the newly elected lawmakers as they begin their legislative duties.

He further assured that his administration will continue to collaborate with elected officials across party lines to promote unity and development in Edo State.
