Former chiefain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Biodun Olujimi, has stated that despite the calibre of persons in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the party would not have been the right place for her to team up with.
Naija News reports that Olujimi, who recently left the opposition PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC), in an interview on Thursday’s edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today, downplayed the ability of the ADC to defeat the incumbent President, Bola Tinubu, in the 2027 election.
When asked if she had considered joining the ADC, Olujimi said the coalition party is not properly anchored and lacks structures.
The former Senate minority leader said she had thought the coalition would be in the PDP, stressing that she could not afford to start looking for a new structure.
Olujimi argued that it was better to leave the PDP than stay in the party and work for the APC.
She said, “So, for me, it was a no-no. ADC could not have worked for me. All the leaders there are my friends and my leaders. But it is not properly anchored. The structures are not there. I had thought that if there would be a coalition, the coalition would be in the PDP, where the structures were very distinct and clear.
“But nothing like that happened. I would now go from number two to number five and then start looking for structures at the unit level, at the ward level, at the local government level, and at the state level, when the primaries for the presidential election are just around the corner.”
